BURLINGTON — A man accused of robbing $5,000 from Brattleboro Savings & Loan during a one-day bank robbery spree in August 2024 pleaded guilty in federal court to armed robbery and could be sentenced to up to 20 years in prison. In addition, his female accomplice pleaded guilty to conspiracy to aid in robbery and could also get 20 years in jail.
According to information from the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Vermont, Christopher Boisvert, 38, and Meghan Cox, 40, both of Keene, N.H., will be sentenced at a later date.
On Aug. 26, 2024, at about 2 p.m., the Vermont State Police received a report of an attempted robbery at Rolling Twenties, a cannabis dispensary in Rockingham.
Using surveillance footage, law enforcement identified a man and woman wearing blue latex gloves and carrying empty tote bags exiting a blue Chevrolet Silverado truck and entering the business.
When they attempted to enter the locked entry door, the suspects were denied entry and left in the truck.
About 45 minutes later, the Bellows Falls Police Department received a report that TD Bank on Church Street had just been robbed of $2,500.
In that incident, a man wearing the same clothing as the man who attempted entry at Rolling Twenties threatened the families of tellers and showed them what appeared to be a wooden handle tucked into his pants. He also said his accomplice was waiting in his vehicle with a handgun.
At 3:45 p.m., the Brattleboro Police Department received a report the Brattleboro Savings & Loan on Putney Road had been robbed by what appeared to be the same man who robbed the bank in Bellows Falls.
The man again threatened the lives of the families of the teller. As he was fleeing the bank, an employee snapped pictures of the license plate of the man's vehicle.
A few minutes later, the truck was located on Route 9 near Keene, N.H., by the Cheshire County Sheriff's Department and a pursuit ensued through Keene and south through Swanzey, N.H.
Several law enforcement agencies engaged in the pursuit, which was called off when the truck entered Massachusetts. The vehicle was later found in the parking lot of Athol, Mass., Memorial Hospital.
Boisvert and Cox were later arrested at a campground in Swanzey and have been in custody since their arrest.
Boisvert has a long record of run-ins with the law, including the robbery of convenience stores in Winchendon and Athol, Mass., in 2023, and in 2021, Boisvert was taken into custody after a standoff with police in Manchester, N.H., after he was accused of first degree assault.
