Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass insisted that the White House is to blame for the chaos that has swept through the city and now across the country.

'A week ago, everything was peaceful in the city of Los Angeles,' she said at a press conference on Wednesday alongside 30 other mayors from the region. 'This was provoked by the White House, the reason why, we don't know.'

Protesters in Chicago stormed the streets, and one 66-year-old woman was injured when she was hit by a car.

The New York Police Department arrested 86 immigration protesters in the Big Apple who rallied outside of the ICE operations center.

As the chaos from the Los Angeles riots continued to unfold Wednesday, one of the agitators who hurled weapons at police was unmasked as one of the undocumented migrants the protesters are fighting to protect.

Meanwhile, California's governor has repeatedly come under fire for his handling of the riots. The lawmaker and his fellow Democrats initially suggested that all was 'peaceful' as Los Angeles burned.

Hollywood legend Jon Voight blasted Gavin Newsom in a scathing rant posted to X calling him a 'fool' and 'lying dog.'

The chaos, which began Friday when anti-ICE protesters seized on a handful of police raids across the city, prompted Trump to take the extraordinary step of sending in troops over the objection of the California governor.

Newsom has tried to control the narrative, blaming Trump and his federal agents for inciting violence, but suffered an embarrassing technology gaffe on Tuesday as he tried to deliver a 'Major Address to Californians.'

Voters reveal Trump's latest approval rating as LA riots mayhem shake the nation

A new poll shows that President Donald Trump's approval rating has ticked up in the days following his dramatic crackdown in response to the Los Angeles riots.

Trump's approval rating is now at 48 percent, according to the latest Daily Mail tracking poll conducted with J.L. Partners, up one point from last week's 47 percent, when the president was in the middle of a nasty public feud with billionaire and former close friend Elon Musk.

The president continues to win the majority of voter's support for his approach to illegal immigration, even as the administration's increased display of deporting illegal immigrants has sparked protests in major cities across the United States.

Fifty-five percent of voters favor his approach to illegal immigration while 45 percent disapprove.

'Trump might be inviting criticism on the airwaves, but these numbers show that voters are behind him on his approach to illegal migration,' J.L. Partners co-founder James Johnson told the Daily Mail.

He said those temporary detentions were in the past few days, and there haven’t been many recently as things have calmed down in the city.

The troops do not participate in the actual arrests or law enforcement activities, and instead immediately let go of the person once police get them under control or put them in handcuffs.

He also said about 500 of the National Guard troops have been trained so far to accompany agents on immigration operations.

'We are expecting a ramp up,' he said, noting that protests across the nation are being discussed now. 'I’m focused right here in LA, what’s going on right here. But you know, I think we’re, we’re very concerned.'

What is the Insurrection Act?

The Insurrection Act authorizes the president to deploy military forces inside the United States to suppress rebellion or domestic violence or to enforce the law in certain situations, according to the Brennan Center for Justice.

Although it is often referred to as the 'Insurrection Act of 1807,' the law is actually an amalgamation of different statutes enacted by Congress between 1792 and 1871.

Invoking the act temporarily suspends the law that prevents the military from taking part in civil law enforcement.

Trump did not invoke the Insurrection Act to deploy the National Guard to LA, but he has flirted with the idea.

Instead, he cited Title 10, which allows the president to call on the military when there 'is a rebellion or danger of rebellion against the authority of the Government of the United States.'

In vile posts calling for violence against law enforcement, the hotels where federal agents are staying in Los Angeles have been released online, with one agitator saying 'burn them.'

The exact address of where Border Patrol agents stayed in Ranch Cucamonga, California just outside LA was posted on Instagram by a self-proclaimed 'leftists'.

'ICE at Hilton, car filled goggles, tuff ties, and riot shields,' the video said, even though the cars were clearly marked Border Patrol, which is a sister agency of Immigration and Customs Enforcement or ICE.

'Burn them,' posted Instagram users @bobbygee57_ in response to the reel showing the agent's location.

'Got a match,' asked @joseflocas.

Anti-ICE protests spread across the US

Protests over ICE raids that erupted in Los Angeles have sprung up across the country, with even more planned for this weekend.

From Seattle and Austin to Chicago and DC, marchers have chanted slogans, carried signs against ICE and snarled traffic through downtown avenues and outside federal offices.

While many have been peaceful, some have resulted in clashes with law enforcement as officers made arrests and used chemical irritants to disperse crowds.

Activists are planning more and even larger demonstrations in the coming days, with 'No Kings' events across the country on Saturday to coincide with Trump's planned military parade through Washington.

The Trump administration said it would continue its program of raids and deportations despite the protests.

'ICE will continue to enforce the law,' Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said in a social media post Tuesday.

Sen. Tom Cotton urges Trump to evoke Insurrection Act

Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) is encouraging President Donald Trump to deploy active-duty troops to Los Angeles under the Insurrection Act if the National Guard is not successful in quelling the riots.

'Violent insurrectionists turned areas of Los Angeles into lawless hellscapes over the weekend, with anarchists setting fire to vehicles, throwing scooters and debris at police, and looting businesses - all while waving foreign flags,' he wrote in a Wall Street Journal op-ed Tuesday.

The 1807 law was evoked in 2020 to end the nationwide riots that broke out after the police killing of George Floyd.

'Democrats also stood idly by or even celebrated as the Black Lives Matter riots ransacked our cities five years ago,' he wrote.

Cotton added: 'If anything, these riots are worse...At least the BLM rioters didn’t wave foreign flags.'

'Very clear distinction' between LA riots and January 6, House Speaker says

House Speaker Mike Johnson said the violence in Los Angeles is not comparable to the January 6 insurrection at the US Capitol.

He argued President Donald Trump, who pardoned and commuted sentences of people charged in the Capitol riot, is not being 'hypocritical' by condemning the anti-ICE rioters.

Johnson, during a news conference Tuesday, said: 'Everybody wants me to relitigate Jan. 6. I’m not going to do that. There’s a very clear distinction between the two.'

He added: 'The people who broke the law and destroyed property were met with the proper consequences on Jan. 6.

'We're trying to be intellectually consistent about this and the same thing needs to happen in LA.'

He also backed Trump's decision to send the military to Los Angeles as protesters clashed with law enforcement, saying Trump is 'fully in his authority right now' to order the National Guard and Marines to the city.

'President Trump has put his hand on the table and said 'Not on my watch,' and we applaud that so we're standing with him,' Johnson said.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott is deploying the state's National Guard to cities across the state to 'ensure peace and order' ahead of today's planned protest in San Antonio.

Abbott reminded Texans that 'peaceful protest is legal' but harming others or destroying property is not - and will 'lead to arrest'.

Anti-ICE protests have spread from LA to other cities nationwide, including Dallas and Austin.

In Texas, where police in Austin used chemical irritants to disperse several hundred demonstrators Monday, Abbott's office said troops are 'on standby' in areas where protests are planned.

President Donald Trump has once again defended his decision to deploy the National Guard and US Marines to LA during the riots.

Newsom earlier accused Trump of drawing a 'military dragnet' across the nation's second-largest city with his escalating use of the National Guard.

Newsom asked a court to put an emergency stop to the military helping federal immigration agents, with some guardsmen now standing in protection around agents as they carried out arrests. He said it would only heighten tensions and promote civil unrest.

The judge set a hearing for Thursday.

Gavin Newsom attacks Donald Trump's mental state

California Gov. Gavin Newsom claimed the president's mental capacity has deteriorated, and he lacks a 'train of thought.'

After referencing a recent video of Trump taking a tumble while boarding Air Force One, Newsom told Fox 11, 'He is not the same person that I dealt with just four years ago.'

He continued: 'He is incapable of even a train of thought. He's making things up, and he's putting people's lives at risk.

'And he's got a band of people that are complicit in this, and that's what is so damn alarming. And we need Congress to step up, and my gosh, do we need the court.'
