Shah Rukh Khan made his much-anticipated Met Gala debut, donning a bespoke all-black ensemble by Sabyasachi, accentuated with layered jewellery and a bold “K” pendant. He was accompanied by the designer himself, who wore a sharply tailored ivory quilted overcoat layered over a crisp white shirt and black trousers, accessorised with a velvet cap featuring a jewelled plume and multi-strand choker.
Priyanka Chopra Jonas returned to the Gala alongside Nick Jonas, captivating attendees in a retro white Balmain outfit adorned with black polka dots, complemented by a wide-brimmed hat and a stunning 241-carat Magnus Emerald pendant from Bulgari.
Kiara Advani, expecting her first child, graced the event in a custom Gaurav Gupta creation titled “Bravehearts.” The ensemble featured a sculptural gold corset symbolising motherhood, paired with an off-the-shoulder black gown and a flowing white train.
Diljit Dosanjh embraced his Punjabi heritage in a regal Prabal Gurung ensemble inspired by archival images of Maharaja Bhupinder Singh of Patiala. Complete with a matching turban, traditional Kripan, and Prince-inspired jewellery including a turban brooch the look featured hand-embroidered lotus and peacock motifs, Gurumukhi inscriptions, and paid tribute to India’s rich history.
Isha Ambani dazzled in a custom Anamika Khanna ensemble, featuring a handwoven Benarasi train and a historic Cartier necklace once owned by the Maharaja of Nawanagar. The necklace, adorned with white, blue, and green diamonds, was recreated by Cartier for the 2018 film ‘Ocean’s 8 and was recently displayed at the sold-out Cartier exhibition at London’s V&A Museum.
Natasha Poonawalla showcased a Manish Malhotra couture piece blending Indian craftsmanship with her Parsi heritage, incorporating vintage Parsi Gara saris and a sculptural lace cravat.
Mona Patel turned heads in a custom Thom Browne ensemble, accompanied by “Vector,” a robotic dog designed by MIT, adorned with a 1000-carat diamond leash, merging fashion with futuristic technology.
Mindy Kaling opted for a custom Harbison Studios gown, featuring a bold white collar, red velvet accents, and sculptural gold buttons, complemented by Marco Bicego jewellery.
Designer Manish Malhotra made his Met Gala debut in a striking sculptural black sherwani cape from his own label, adorned with intricate embroidery, glass beadwork, and brooches from his High Jewellery line. He also dressed Coco Konig in an elegant cream and white ensemble, featuring elaborate embroidery on a dramatic long-sleeve coat with sharp lapels, paired with matching tailored trousers.
Sabyasachi Mukherjee made a stylish debut on the Met Gala red carpet, donning a sharp ivory quilted overcoat paired with a white shirt and black trousers. The renowned designer's look was elevated with a velvet cap, jewelled plume, and a multi-strand choker, showcasing his signature blend of elegance and intricate craftsmanship.
A unique and powerful addition to this year’s event was the Met Gala carpet, crafted by artisans from Neytt by Extraweave, a Kerala-based brand. The beige-toned carpet was made from sisal fibre sourced from Madagascar and spanned approximately 7,000 square meters. It was woven over 60 days by a dedicated team in Cherthala, Kerala, before being shipped to New York, where it was hand-painted to match the evening’s theme. This collaboration not only elevated Indian craftsmanship but also brought the talent of Kerala’s weaving tradition to one of the world’s most prestigious cultural events.
This year's Met Gala highlighted the global influence of Indian fashion and culture, with each attendee showcasing a unique blend of tradition and modernity, reinforcing India’s growing role in the international fashion landscape.
