Loose Threads: Ksubi, Anthropolgie, Ciele Athletics and More

Here’s a quick roundup of the latest news from leading denim brands.

Ciele Athletics

Ciele Athletics launched a collection that includes real denim.

The B Corp running apparel brand’s new LE (Life Editions) Collection features 7.5 oz. Sorino H/C hemp cotton blend indigo denim. Ciele highlights hemp’s hydrophobic properties that help keep the fabric dry. A “touch of spandex” is added for comfort.

Styles include a coach’s jacket, running short, short brim hat and bucket hat. Additionally, the shorts feature Ciele’s COOLmatic Plus KLOSfit half tight liner for extra comfort and compression. The collection retails for $85-$270.

“We’re here to say we believe in denim. We’re here to say yes to heavier weight durability, yes to structure, yes to a long wearing patina. We’re here to say if denim is good enough for cowboys and tennis players with mullets, it’s good enough for us,” the brand states on its website.

Anthropologie

Anthropologie marked the second year of its partnership with Kiss the Ground, the environmental nonprofit that promotes regenerative agriculture, by launching a new line of regenerative cotton basics from Maeve and Pilcro.

The collection reimagines some of the retailer’s best-selling styles in sustainably sourced Regenagri certified regenerative cotton including as the wide-leg Colette jean by Maeve and flare Adi jean by Pilcro. The Adi is made with 100 percent regenerative cotton, while the Colette is made with a 69 percent regenerative cotton, 15 percent cotton, 15 percent Tencel and 2 percent polyester blend. The collection also includes Pilcro’s Billy T-shirt.

“I’m energized by the momentum our partnership with Anthropologie brings to the Regeneration Movement–year-round,” said Evan Harrison, CEO of Kiss the Ground. “In the last 18 months, U.S. awareness of regenerative agriculture has grown from 4 percent to 7 percent. The progress is undeniable—we are heading toward the tipping point when regeneration becomes the norm, not the exception. Our collaboration will continue to inform and inspire consumers and companies to join the movement.”

Ksubi

Ksubi teamed with London-based designer Mowalola to launch a limited-edition collection that merges the brands’ bold aesthetics. Spanning nine pieces, the collection honors “their shared connection to the Y2K era.”

Cheetah print patterns and a Doberman motif is carried throughout the line. Denim pieces feature heavy distressing. Highlights include Mowalola’s iconic bomber jacket, hot shorts and an ultra-low-rise jean modeled from Ksubi’s early 2000’s archives.

Exclusive co-branded elements like a Ksubi x Mowalola pocket tag and leather MOWA patch with Ksubi’s 4×4 crosses serve as the final touches.

“As the vanguard of today’s leading designers, Mowalola was at the top of our list of who we wanted to collaborate next with,” said Pip Edwards, Ksubi creative director. “As a brand that welcomes controversy with open arms, Mowa’s provocative approach to design and creativity was too tempting to ignore. When we started to bring our worlds and iconic styles together it soon became clear we were on the cusp of something very exciting. Seeing the brand through Mowa’s lens and vice versa enabled us to push boundaries even further and achieve a collection that truly embodies the defiant spirits of both brands.”
