Sainsbury's set to rival Aldi pricing as it looks to 'supercharge summer value'
The grocer has added more than 100 products to its Aldi Price Match scheme in a bid to rival the supermarket giant
A major supermarket has announced it will be taking steps to rival popular grocer Aldi's pricing.
Sainsbury's has revealed it will be adding more than 100 products to the Aldi Price Match scheme, as it attempts to "supercharge summer value."
The shop reportedly now has more than 800 items priced to match the bargain chain.
Sainsbury's has claimed that this move will see it take the lead from other competitors as the brand with the most items matched to Aldi's pricing.

Everyday essentials such as shower gel, hand wash and period items will be available on the price match initiative, as well as meat product such as bacon, sausages, pet food and feta.
Picnic favourites, including quiche, pork pies and dips, are also set to be added to the list of price-matched choices.
For those who enjoy a tipple, the supermarket giant is also offering an expanded range of alcoholic beverages aligned with Aldi costs, including Champagne, Cava and Prosecco.
Richard Crampton, Sainsbury’s commercial director of fresh and convenience, said: “With household costs going up, we’re working tirelessly to keep prices low for customers when doing their big shop at Sainsbury’s.
“With the biggest ever Aldi Price Match, we’re introducing hot weather favourites such as dips, ice cubes and fizz as well as family staples such as shower gel, cotton wool and period care, ensuring shoppers budgets can go even further this summer.”
Sainsbury's news follows reports Asda axed its Aldi and Lidl Price Match earlier this year due to the relaunch of its Rollback initiative.

The supermarket giant also revealed it would be cutting 3,000 jobs this year with three of its services removed.
It was reported the brand's remaining patisserie, hot food and pizza counters are due to close "by early summer," for its larger shops.
However, it should be noted counters in smaller location will remain and will not be affected by the incoming changes.
