As well as being the architects of some of the best pop songs of the moment, Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco have finally found a meeting point on couples’ style that incorporates both of their own individual aesthetics. How they did it? Swathed in suede and camel tones, and sitting courtside.
The duo stepped out for the Knicks Vs Celtics basketball game at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Tuesday (April 8). Gomez opted for a long brown suede coat with a golden inner lining, blue bootcut jeans, similarly camel toned boots, and a black shoulder bag. She wore her now slightly grown out bob sleek and straight. Blanco dug out a pair of his favorite cow print jeans and wore a wool camel coat, a pale blue shirt, and black boots.
Both Gomez and Blanco have forged a distinctive, individual style that’s instantly recognizable. Gomez revels in refined, ladylike lools thanks to red carpet appearances in powder-blue Prada and anticipatory bridal whites, gilded custom Ralph Lauren and glittering Armani Prive, while in more relaxed looks, the Rare Beauty founder throws on a blazer and good denim. Blanco, meanwhile, looks to pale linens, loud prints, and hippie hemp materials, as well as more off-beat denim and some trusty cowboy boots.
Usually, that means their date night looks tend to veer more into ‘opposites attract’ territory. On a recent night out with friends for a steak dinner in one of New York’s buzziest restaurants, Gomez wore a monochromatic suit, with a tailored black blazer, a plunging silk black shirt, and matching suit trousers. She also toted Schiaparelli’s iconic Face bag. Blanco wore a billowing white linen print shirt, with those same brown cow print trousers, and cowboy boots. Still, for more starry events like the 2025 Oscars, the wife and husband-to-be joined forces for a cool and classic old Hollywood look: Gomez in baby blue Prada, and Blanco in a white embellished suit.
It makes sense too that their senses of style meet in more western territory (paging the purveyor of all things yeehaw, Bella Hadid), given Gomez’s love of sleek and classic materials like suede and Blanco’s penchant for a cowboy boot and westerncore’s most obvious pillars.
But regardless of occasion and stylistic choices, the couple—who announced their engagement back in December—will be seen jubilantly enjoying each other’s company. Courtside for last night’s game, they laughed and joked the whole way through, taking their moment on the big screen in good spirits.
