DEALING WITH DEMENTIA | 10 a.m.-12 p.m. through March 13. Developed by the Rosalynn Carter Institute, Camarillo Health Care District’s Dealing with Dementia two-part class is an evidence-based educational support program for caregivers of people living with dementia.This four-hour workshop highlights topics such as the caregiving experience with an easily understandable explanation of dementia, best practices in caregiving, and problem solving with dementia behaviors. EXAMINING CULTS | 1-3 p.m. via Zoom through March 27. Despite a knowledge of cults having entered into our culture, we continue to harbor many misconceptions about them. We don’t under why a man like Jim Jones, with his bent on “revolutionary suicide,” was able to hold such a sway over people. MAIN STREET BRIDGE REPLACEMENT PROJECT MEETING | 5:30 p.m. The city of Ventura invites community members to attend a community meeting on Thursday, March 13, at 5:30 p.m. at the Museum of Ventura County, located at 100 East Main Street in Ventura. Participants will learn more about the planned replacement of the Main Street Bridge over the Ventura River. Spanish interpretation will be provided. This project is a significant infrastructure upgrade that will enhance safety, improve traffic flow, and increase accessibility for pedestrians and cyclists. MARCH FULL MOON SUNSET NATURE HIKE AND LUNAR ECLIPSE | 6-9 p.m. Join Lanny and Rondia Kaufer for a Full Moon Sunset Nature Hike during the start of a total lunar eclipse. Although the total eclipse begins at 11:18 p.m., we’ll see it start with a penumbral eclipse a little before 9 p.m. The next time a total lunar eclipse will be visible in Ventura County before 1 a.m. or later at night is August 6, 2036. We’ll gradually walk about 1.5 miles on a well-used dirt road with gradual elevation gain to a vista point above the Ojai Valley where we can watch the sunset, moonrise, and beginning of the eclipse. We’ll walk back by flashlight and partial moonlight, returning to the trailhead around 9:15 p.m. $16-36.71.
