The Salomon Genesis has just been revealed. While the French sportswear company could've just dropped another fashion-focused silhouette (which would've no doubt become the go-to for anyone under the age of 35), this all-new model is a trail running shoe that's actually made for trail runners – and the guys who cosplay as them.
Making its big debut in three colour combos including ‘Dragon Fire,’ ‘Sulphur Spring,’ and ‘Tahitian Tide,’ while the Genesis could look like other hype-y sneakers such as the ACS Pro and the XT-6, it's actually been designed from the ground up. The upper, for example, is decked out in a weaved 'Matryx' material that's meant to be super breathable and durable, and this is surrounded by taping for a more streamlined finish.
A giant “Salomon” logo is plastered across the lateral heel, and the lacing system has been engineered to offer a tighter fit. But it's not totally different from the ACS Pro and the XT-6 though. The midsole brings back the OG All-Terrain Contagrip outsole, making it the perfect trainer to tackle everything from steep Lake District hills to (let's be honest here) fourth rounds at the pub.
And Salomon isn't the only brand that's taking this whole trail shoe thing super seriously. Earlier this year, Arc'teryx dropped its first ever in-house sneaker, and the collection's been a big hit among actual climbers and hikers. Go figure! Nike also recently brought back the ACG Air Exploraid, which was once the go-to silhouette for adventure-y types back in the early '90s.
