Fashion and lifestyle retailer TFG has acquired local bedding brand Granny Goose and associated manufacturer Cotton Traders.
Granny Goose products will be available exclusively to TFG's @home brand, the group announced on Friday. Granny Goose will be exclusive to @home and TFG believes this will give it a competitive advantage in the high-quality, premium linen and duvet sector.
According to Shani Naidoo, group retail director at TFG, the group regards the acquisitions as yet another example of its focus on job creation, local manufacturing and harnessing innovation and home-grown talent. In the past five years TFG created a diversified local supply chain, which not only reduced its reliance on international imports, but has also supported the local economy through job creation.
TFG has over 4 300 outlets in 26 countries and employs more than 34 800 people. It has 29 retail brands that trade in fashion, value, jewellery, accessories, sporting apparel, cellular, homeware and furniture. Besides South Africa, TFG Africa also has a presence in Botswana, Zambia, Namibia, Lesotho and Eswatini through various retail brands.
TFG first entered the UK market through the acquisition of the premium womenswear brand Phase Eight in 2015, followed by the acquisition of Whistles in 2016 and Hobbs in 2017. TFG's presence in the Australian market was strengthened through its acquisition in 2017 of Retail Apparel Group, a leading Australian menswear apparel retailer.
