In a post-Covid era where budgets are tighter and we are all thinking more about the environment, avoiding an expensive wear-once wedding dress makes an awful lot of sense.

Not only does hiring your Big Day dress mean you’re promoting circularity in fashion, but also means you avoid dry cleaning and storage costs, and that eternal conundrum of how the hell you’ll customise the big white ballgown in order to ever wear it again.

Carrie Johnson’s decision to rent her Christos Costarellos gown from rental platform My Wardrobe HQ this weekend has already given the bridal hire industry a major boost, with rental platofrm HURR reporting a 268 per cent surge in bridal rentals since the weekend.
