The textile complex of Turkmenistan, which has a powerful production infrastructure and raw materials base, occupies one of the leading places in the country’s economy, the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper reported.

Thanks to significant investments, export opportunities of the industry expanded. Cooperation is conducted with such structures as the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the Japan Bank for International Cooperation and Japan’s Mitsubishi Corporation.

Equipment of Monforts (Germany) is installed on the denim complex named after Turkmenbashi, and production of mixed fabrics for sewing uniforms, gabardine with lycra and canvas fabrics for trousers, as well as material for sportswear is established at Rukhabat complex.

During the modernization of the Tejen cotton mill, Swiss Rieter equipment has been installed. A workshop for the production of twisted cotton yarn with a capacity of 1,300 tons per year was launched at the Serdar cotton spinning mill in Kaka town. Equipment by SSM (Switzerland) and Saurer (Germany) is used at the mill.

A workshop for the production of regenerated fiber from the waste of the spinning, weaving and sewing facilities of the industry was commissioned on the basis of the Ashgabat textile complex. The workshop has equipment from Balkan company (Turkey).

The Ashgabat cotton mill established annual production of 2.5 million pairs of male, female and children’s socks. The facility has a workshop equipped by Italy’s Lonati company.

Some 70 percent of the textiles produced in Turkmenistan are exported. The country annually grows more than one million tons of cotton, which serves as a basis for the development of the textile industry.
