Craft Revivalist and Textile Conservationist Madhu Jain showcased three weaves at the Amazon India Fashion Week SS18. Celebrating India's rich textile tradition and culture, she created an artistic aura on the stage. The prelude done by powerful dance brought the stage alive. International renowned danced and Padma awardee, Prathibha Prahlad had choreographed the dance by her group Prasiddha Repertory.

The designer showcased three-master weaves and motifs, a glorious offering to India's 2000-year-old textile tradition. The first textile of the collection celebrated the painting of Kerala's Guruvayur temple complex. Fasciated by the intricacy of this art, she brought alive the depiction of Puranic themes with design motif and details. Natural pigments and dyes intensified the temple motifs.

The second textile was the complete opposite and deceptively simple. The heavy motif was followed by undyed and luminous Bamboo Silk collection, a 15-year-old creation. The easy silhouettes and ivory tones were minimalism at it best.

Lastly, the third textile was a royal Venkatagirl collection from Andhra Pradesh. Woven in Jamdani tradition, it was incorporated with tribal motifs. This intricate and refined flat weave also has a unique quality of being reversible, making it a winner.
