VANCOUVER, BC, CANADA, December 6, 2018 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Left Coast Crime is one of the most important dates on the international crime fiction calendar. Held annually at various destinations on the left side of North America, recent years have seen LCC take place in Hawaii, Nevada, California, Oregon and other places. This spring, for the first time ever, the convention is coming to Canada.

Almost all of the action around the 29th Left Coast Crime will take place at the Hyatt Regency Vancouver on March 28-31, 2019. Subtitled “Whale Of A Crime,” the event will bring some of the most celebrated writers in mystery and crime fiction together with avid fans, many of whom will be traveling from outside of Canada to participate in this popular annual event.

“Fans will have a real opportunity to meet some of their favourite mystery writers in person,” says convention co-chair Linda McNab. “There will be various panel discussions and interviews, so you’ll be able to hear them talk about their writing. Not only that, you’ll be able to interact with them at various social functions.”

Organizers are expecting 600 attendees, of which over 200 will be writers. Writers from every part of the genre will be in attendance, representing authors of historical to cozy to noir to gritty police procedurals and hardcore thrillers. The authors already registered to attend include first time writers to bestselling and award-winning authors.

Some of the acclaimed authors who will be at Left Coast Crime include Cathy Ace, CJ Box, Maureen Jennings, Rhys Bowen, Charles Todd, and Laurie R King. The family of late Sue Grafton, internationally bestselling author of the Alphabet mysteries, will be in attendance to accept a special award.

Though the authors will provide the biggest draw and the largest part of the content, the convention will also be attended by reviewers, publishers and editors. Fans can expect panel discussions, readings, workshops, small group discussions and book signings, all offering an unparalleled opportunity to meet and speak with some of the most influential and significant authors currently working in the crime and mystery genres. LCC will also provide those who love crime fiction the ideal venue to discover new authors to enjoy, while also helping authors connect with their fans and get new readers.

In addition to the regularly scheduled Left Coast Crime fun, would-be screenwriters can register for the Hollywood North component of this year’s event. Award-winning author, screenwriter and journalist, Mark Leiren-Young, will give trenchant advice to those hoping to adapt their book for film.

Authors hoping to participate on a panel will need to register by December 31st. Additionally the $300 cost for full registration goes up on January 1, 2019. Day passes and attendance in the Hollywood North segment are available separately.
