Devastated by the fire damage in Napa, where she attends school, a Vacaville girl has teamed up with the local Roline’s Uniquely Filipino restaurant to raise funding for fire victims.

“I just want to do all that I can to help,” explained Elizabeth Brazil, a senior at Justin-Siena High School.

So many friends have been impacted by the blazes, she said, as well as the community as a whole. Lending a hand just seems the right things to do.

In partnership with Roline’s, at 2048 Nut Tree Road in Vacaville, Elizabeth is collecting canned goods, jackets, other clothing, toiletries, blankets and surgical-type face masks to help those with breathing issues from the smoke.

Elizabeth will be driving the donations to Justin-Siena tonight, so deadline to drop off contributions will be 6 p.m. at the store.

“We are a community of humans and I hope we can all come together to help each other,” she said.

If you can’t meet the deadline but still want to help, buying a halo-halo dessert will do the trick.

A percentage of every halo-halo dessert, through Saturday, will go toward fire victims, said Margarita Casper, manager.

“We like to help out the community because it’s really important to us,” she said.

Halo-halo is a triple-layered dessert — tropical goodness, like fruit, on the bottom, shaved ice in the middle and ice cream on top.

The eatery/store is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
